MEET THE STAFF
Thanks for taking an interest in our staff! We're still preparing bios and getting everything organized, so this is just a "stub" for right now. In the meantime, feel free to head on over to the contact page and let us know a little bit about yourself!
George grew up on a farm and loves to tell chicken farm stories. The idea of “sowing” and “reaping” has been embedded in his life philosophy since childhood. He believes that God’s Gospel of salvation is for every tribe and that God has called all of us to sow the seed of the Gospel to every corner of the world. He and his wife joined ECBC Church in the 70s and served in many ministries before God called him to study in Seminary. They have 2 daughters and a son and have gained a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law. They recently became grandparents of one-year-old baby James. George is passionate about people impacting people with God’s living truth! He gets excited hearing testimonies of people whose lives are being transformed through knowing and experiencing God.
English Point Pastor
After earning a bachelors in Agricultural Science, Arthur worked with the BC Provincial Government for several years. Sensing God’s call to missionary and pastoral ministry, he returned to Vancouver to study at Regent College where he met his wife Janice and received his Masters of Divinity. For 10 years they served with OMF International in Borneo, Malaysia. In 2000 they moved back to Vancouver to serve with OMF and later as campus pastors with University Christian Ministry at UBC. During this time Arthur also earned a Doctorate of Ministry at Carey Theological College. Arthur loves to cycle, eat the smelly king of fruits Durian, and go for long walks along the seawall with Janice.
Young Adults Pastor
Chris was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Youngest of three children, Chris grew up in a Christian family and was (quite literally) dragged to church every single Sunday. In 2006 he graduated from the University of Washington with his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, then proceeded to work a number of random jobs while he tried to figure out what to do with his life. After much soul searching he felt called to attend seminary at Regent College in Vancouver, BC. In November 2017 Chris got married and he is now trying to figure out how to be a good husband.
Philip is a pastor, husband of an amazing wife, father of two beautiful girls, and a brother in Christ. He earned his Masters of Divinity from ACTS Seminary and his Bachelors of Criminology from Simon Fraser University. He has worked as a youth pastor for almost a decade. Philip has a passion for seeing lives being transformed by the love of Jesus. He loves seeing young people mature in their faith and seeing them step out their comfort zone to be where Christ is calling them to go. In his spare time he enjoys sports, video games, exercise, movies, and food.
Janice has been in ECBC children’s ministry since 1988, serving full time since 1994. She and her teaching team are passionate about guiding children to pursue Jesus and helping them experience an intimate relationship with him. Her joy of working with children has led her to several mission trips serving in Cambodia, Columbia, Mexico, South Africa and Taiwan. Janice loves biking, for it allows her to feel carefree and to discover many beautiful places faster than walking! She enjoys blogging about her outdoor adventures in God’s wonderful creation. She is also learning to play the ukulele as well as lead Communal Worship Dance.
God's plan for Joseph Deng migrated him from his origins to the far West, in the company of his devoted wife and 2 bundles of joy.
